“I have worked with capital campaign consultants before. The James Company’s difference is that they don’t just tell you that XYZ needs to be done, but they actually step in to get the work done – they help write copy and layout resources for us to “tweak”. Because the campaign was during the height of the pandemic, it took a little longer to reach our goal. However, our consultant team stuck with us well beyond the time they were being paid. Our Leadership Team was well equipped and TJC was very available to us, even outside of our scheduled meetings. I highly recommend this firm”.

Project Details
Hope Begins With Home was the theme of an ambitious capital campaign dedicated to building a bright future for healthy and affordable homeownership in the Washington DC area.
During this capital campaign, prospective contributors were given the opportunity to do more than donate to a good cause. Donors were invited to join a movement that promoted HOPE. Without home, hope is without reach.
Habitat for Humanity Metro Maryland was one of three entities who banded together to raise funds for the innovative , mixed income, affordable housing development. The project is designed to include:
- 168 affordable rental units
- 12 units of permanent supportive housing
- 27 affordable ownership units to be built by Habitat for Humanity Metro Maryland
The project co-locates medium density apartments with ownership units, which helps to drive down the cost of condominiums and single-family homes. This makes homeownership affordable for lower income families. The project will provide deep levels of affordability, including rental and ownership opportunities for families earning 30% of the Area Median Income (AMI) with all units available to those earning less than 70% of AMI.
The campaign goal for Habitat’s part of the project was $1,500,000. The campaign goal was met…and exceeded!
