“Risk” can almost seem like an idea doomed to fail…yet there is never a perfect time!

Consider what Solomon says:

“The one who watches the wind will not sow and the one who looks at the clouds will not reap. Ecclesiastes 11:4

There is a time for every season and as “good stewards”, we must be careful not to miss the season God is calling us into. Yet we often want to wait for the “perfect” time instead of letting ourselves be stretched and blessed through a leap-of-faith.

I think the reason that some of us wait for the perfect time to do something is because we are trying to wait until there is no risk. It is human nature. We want to eliminate any chance of failure or bad things happening.

No matter how much we try, we can NEVER eliminate all risk. Any time we step out into anything there will be some level of risk, but that is not an excuse not to take action.

In our churches and nonprofits this might look like stepping out to organize a strategic planning effort, launching an annual appeal when many are saying it’s not a good idea, finding new ways to steward (thank) our donors throughout the year, launching a capital campaign, starting a new much needed service, or anything else – there will always be an excuse not to take action.

Step out and be one of those churches or organizations who realize that the perfect time is now!

More importantly, don’t hesitate!
